Whitney Sterns

Whitney Sterns was named the head coach of Lion Line in July 2018 and continues to also serve as Lionettes head coach, a position she took over in August 2015.  She brings a lifetime of dance experience to the program.

Sterns was a four year member of the Lindenwood Lion Line dance team from 2010-2014 and was a part of the national championship squads in 2012 and 2013.  Her final two years, she served as a junior and senior captain.  While in college, Sterns spent time in several dance studios where she taught ballet, jazz, tap, and hip hop.  As a choreographer, she created and taught many solo and group dance numbers for students to perform during competition season.

After graduating from Lindenwood with a fine arts degree in dance in 2014, she was given the opportunity to coach the junior varsity dance team at Fort Zumwalt West High School in O’Fallon, Mo., where she was responsible for preparing the dancers for performances as well as planning and organizing team  activities including both dance and community service.  She also currently works with well-known choreographer Toya Ambrose, setting and teaching dance combinations to high school and college dance teams and individual dancers for competitions.

Sterns began dancing at the age of three, and became a competitive dancer with the Cheryl Priess Dickey Performing Dance Company, earning many team and individual awards.  She was a member and captain of the Emeralds Dance Team and graduated from Southwest High School in Lincoln, Neb.  She often conducts workshops at her home studio to share her love for the art of dance.
