For the second straight game, the Lindenwood men's basketball team's hot shooting led to another conference win. This time the Lions shot 56 percent from the field to hold off the Washburn Ichabods 72-59 in St. Charles on Saturday night.
Â
Things started off slowly for the Lions falling behind six in the early going. But after the slow start the Lindenwood offense caught fire.
LJ McIntosh started the shooting barrage with a couple of threes and it was all Lindenwood from then on.
Â
The Lions headed into the locker room with a two-point advantage and never surrendered the lead the rest of the contest.
Â
The second half started with Lindenwood scoring the first 10-of-12 points to take its first double-digit lead of the game. Washburn was able to cut its deficit to five late in the half but the Lions closed out the game from the charity stripe. Over the final six minutes, Lindenwood was a perfect 13-for-13 from the free throw line.
Â
Five Lions scored in double figures led by
Cory Arentsen's 13.
Sam Mader scored 12,
Garrett Reeg chipped in with 11 and
Darris Smith and McIntosh scored 10.
Â
The win was the second in a row for the Lions and improved their overall record to 6-6 and MIAA record to 2-2. Up next for Lindenwood is a road game against Pittsburg State on Jan. 6.Â
