Canadian Trip Starts On Down Note For Men's Basketball

Lindenwood men's basketball's Canadian trip got off to a rocky start on Friday afternoon as the Lions fell to Simon Fraser by an 81-73 score in Burnaby, British Columbia.
 
The Lions got off to a slow start offensively, and could never completely recover. The Clan jumped out to a 9-2 lead and lead by as many as 15 at 29-14 with five minutes remaining in the half. The Lions went on a 16-2 run in the final five minutes, and only trailed 31-30 at the break.
 
Lindenwood took a brief lead early in the second half at 39-38, but Simon Fraser answered with a 13-2 run to go back up by double-digits. The Lions came back again and took the lead on two separate occasions, but every time the Clan quickly responded.
 
With four minutes remaining, the two teams were tied at 70 when Simon Fraser took the lead for good on a three-point basket. The Lions still trailed by one possession in the final 70 seconds, but Lindenwood missed a three-pointer and turned the ball over twice. The Clan finally clinched the game by making five straight free throws in a ten-second span.
 
Lindenwood finished the game shooting under 40 percent from the field, including just 30.8 percent from three-point range. Simon Fraser shot 51.9 percent from the field for the game. The Clan were 60 percent from the field and from three-point range in the second half. The teams matched each other statistically in rebounds, assists, and turnovers.
 
Dominique Dobbs had the second double-double of his career as he led the team with 19 points and 11 rebounds. Jackson Price finished with 14 points, including four three-pointers. Brenon Larson-Gulsvig had 13 points and Chandler Diekvoss was in double figures with 10. Adam Pohlman had a team-high four assists.
 
Lindenwood and Simon Fraser will be in action again on Saturday afternoon when the two teams face off at 2 p.m. (4 p.m. central).
