Dennis Kane Tapped as New Debate Coach

Director of Student Life Sports Mike Elam has announced Dennis Kane as the new head coach for the Lindenwood debate program.  The St. Louis, Missouri resident brings over a decade of experience as a speech, debate, and broadcast teacher.

Kane recently retired from Marquette High School in Chesterfield, Missouri, where he qualified 43 students to the National Speech and Debate Association National Tournament over 15 years.  Two finished in the top 60, one in the top 30, and one took third in the country.  His team advanced to the Missouri State High School Activities Association Qualifier every year, earning nine first place finishes and five second place finishes.

Kane was President of the St. Louis Speech League from 2009 to 2011, and he was a member of the Student Television Network Executive Board from 2008 to 2015, serving as Treasurer and Vice President. 

Kane earned a Bachelor of Arts in Religion from Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee, Oklahoma.  He obtained his teaching certification from the University of Missouri – St. Louis, and he earned a Master's in Education from the University of Missouri in Columbia.
Kane takes over the reins of the program immediately.
