Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men's Basketball Can't Get Late Shots To Fall In Loss To Lopers

The Lindenwood men's basketball team couldn't get a three-pointer to fall in the final minute, as it lost to Nebraska-Kearney on Thursday night by a 75-71 score in Kearney, Neb.

The Lions trailed by 10 points with two minutes remaining in the game, but was able to cut the lead to three points at 74-71 when Jackson Price hit a three-pointer with 53 seconds remaining. Nebraska-Kearney turned the ball over, and the Lions had two shots to tie the game. Both missed the mark though, and the Lopers got the rebound after the second miss. After one made free throw made it a two-possession game, Lindenwood missed three more three-point attempts in the final 15 seconds of the contest.

Nebraska-Kearney never trailed in the second half after leading 40-32 at halftime time. Lindenwood led for parts of the first half, but a 10-0 Lopers run late in the period helped them build a lead at the midway point.

Lindenwood tied the game twice in the first eight minutes of the second half, but could never get over the hump. A 7-0 run by Nebraska-Kearney gave the Lopers just enough points to hold off the late Lions rally.

Both teams shot 50 percent or better from the field, with the Lions right at 50 percent and the Lopers at 55.8 percent. Nebraska-Kearney had three more three-pointers and three more made free throws in the game. The Lopers also had nine more rebounds, while Lindenwood won the turnover battle by a 15-9 mark.

Dominique Dobbs had one of the best games of his career with 21 points, seven rebounds, two assists, two blocks, and two steals. He shot 10-of-11 from the field. Chandler Diekvoss added 15 points and Price finished with 13. Adam Pohlman led the team with six assists, and Bakari Triggs tied Dobbs for the team-high with two steals.

Lindenwood falls to 14-9 overall and 4-7 in the MIAA. The Lions will be in action again on Saturday at 4 p.m. in a contest at Fort Hays State.
