Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men’s Basketball Unable to Knock Off No. 10 Florida Southern

GAME OVERVIEW
The Lindenwood men's basketball team (7-6) was defeated 99-91 by No. 10 Florida Southern on Saturday evening. In what was a thrilling and hard fought contest, the visiting Lions led the tenth-ranked Mocs by three points at halftime, but were unable to protect the lead during the second half.

Lindenwood came charging out of the gate, scoring seven of the first nine points, capped off by a Brad Newman layup at the 17:29 mark of the first half to take an early 7-2 lead.

Newman would eventually leave the game for a period of time with a sprained ankle, but returned later in the contest to pick up his fifth game with at least 20 points this season.

The Lions led for the entirety of the first half, and saw their lead get to as many as nine points as Diego Womack connected on an and-one layup with 2:55 left in the frame.

Florida Southern outscored Lindenwood by six points to close out the half, which ended with the Lions holding a 39-36 lead.

The home team evened the score at 47-47 after 3:50 to open the second half.

Florida Southern built itself an 11-point lead over the next 8:06, and did not surrender the lead again.

The Mocs held a 99-91 lead at the final buzzer.
