Postgame Press Conference

The Lindenwood men's basketball team gave No. 10 Northwest Missouri a scare on Thursday night inside Hyland Arena, but the Bearcats were able to escape St. Charles, Mo. with a 67-60 victory over the Lions.

The game was close throughout with the largest lead by either team in the game being just seven points. Northwest Missouri held a 37-35 lead at halftime, and they continue to hold the advantage for most of the second half.

The game was tied at 52 with 7:13 remaining, but Northwest Missouri started getting good looks inside the paint. The Bearcats made their next four field goal attempts, all of them coming off layups. That helped the team build a 61-55 advantage with four minutes left.

Lindenwood got the lead down to four with 1:27 remaining, and had a chance to get closer. A missed shot and a turnover, however, kept the Bearcats' lead at four. The Lions had to foul after that and, even though the Bearcats missed three free throws down the stretch, Lindenwood could not take advantage as it didn't score the rest of the game.

The top highlight for Lindenwood was Chandler Diekvoss entering the 1,000-point club at Lindenwood. He scored 21 in the game, including making eight-of-10 from the field. He now has 1,003 points for his career, and he became the 12th Lion all-time to score 1,000 points in a career. Diekvoss also led the team with seven rebounds.

Jackson Price was hot early and finished with 19 points, including 14 in the first half. Brad Newman was in double-figures with 11 points. Adam Pohlman led the team with five assists and two steals.

Lindenwood falls to 15-12 overall and 7-11 in MIAA play. The Lions will end their regular season at home on Saturday afternoon versus Missouri Western.
