Diekvoss' Big Game Leads Men's Basketball to Second Straight Win

GAME OVERVIEW
The Lindenwood men's basketball team (13-14, 6-9 MIAA) won its second straight MIAA road game on Saturday afternoon from Kearney, Neb., defeating the Lopers by a final score of 73-65. Chandler Diekvoss led all scorers in the game with 25 points (10-of-11 FG), his 10th 20-point performance of the season.

With Lindenwood holding an early 7-6 lead over Nebraska-Kearney, Brad Newman hit a jumper at the 15:33 mark of the first half to extend the Lions' lead to 9-6. Over the next 10:42 of play, Lindenwood outscored the home team by a 31-8 margin, helping to build a commanding 38-14 edge with just under five minutes remaining in the half.

The Lopers managed to close the first half on a 14-2 run of their own, trimming the Lions' lead to 40-28 at the break.

Lindenwood maintained its double-digit lead for the majority of the second half, but with 3:14 left in regulation, Nebraska-Kearney brought its deficit to nine points at 67-58. 

The Lions held off the surging Lopers over the final minutes of the game, sealing their second MIAA road victory of the week with a 73-67 final.

- Diekvoss led the team with eight rebounds, the 13th time this season he has secured a team-high in the category.
- Diekvoss and Adam Pohlman each tied for the team-lead in assists with four.
- Newman scored 13 points (5-of-12 FG), while Diego Womack added 12 points (5-of-13 FG).
- Lindenwood shot 52.7 percent (29-of-55) on its field-goal attempts, its third straight game shooting above its season average.
