Five Multi-Goal Scorers Lift Women's Lacrosse to Victory

The No. 5 Lindenwood women's lacrosse team notched its seventh consecutive victory to begin the season on Tuesday afternoon from Salt Lake City, Utah. The Lions, who had five multi-goal scorers in the game, picked up an 18-5 win over the Westminster Griffins.

GAME OVERVIEW
Carly Fedorowski got Lindenwood on the board first, scoring an unassisted goal after 9:45 of play. Emma Wildhart assisted Hailey Gallant for the Lions' second goal of the game with just over 18 minutes to play in the opening half. Westminster responded with a goal of its own at the 16:46 mark of the period, trimming the Lindenwood lead to 2-1. The Lions closed the half on a 7-0 scoring run, including two goals apiece from Abby Hagberg and Alex Hammonds, to extend their lead to 9-1 at the half.

Lindenwood continued its torrid pace in the second half, scoring six of the first seven goals over the first 14:46 of play, to open a commanding 15-2 lead. The Lions had six different goal scorers to begin the second half.

The Lions and Griffins would each score three more times before the end of the contest, bringing the game to its final score of 18-5.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Hagberg totaled four goals and five points in the game, both representing new career-high marks.
- Fedorowski also finished the game with four goals scored, her third four-goal game of the season.
- Meghan Rea registered her first career hat trick, finishing the afternoon with a career-high five-point performance.
- Gallant and Hammonds both scored two goals for Lindenwood. Gallant accounted for one assist to finish the game with three points.
- Morgan Reader led the team with seven secured draw controls and five ground balls.
- Alana Jeronimo caused a team-leading four turnovers, one more than Reader who had three.
- Aly Smith made three saves in goal for the Lions, as she earned her seventh win of the season.
- Lindenwood was a perfect 12-of-12 on its clear attempts.
- The Lions finished the game with a 33-8 edge in shots on goal.

Lindenwood will conclude its road trip out west on Thursday afternoon in Aztec, N.M. The Lions will face the Fort Lewis Skyhawks at 1:30 p.m. MT (2:30 p.m. central).
