The Lindenwood baseball team (19-16, 13-8 MIAA) won its weekend series over Central Oklahoma (20-13, 12-9 MIAA) after a doubleheader split on Saturday at Lou Brock Sports Complex in St. Charles, Mo. Central Oklahoma earned a 4-3 win in game one, while the Lions secured the series victory with a 4-3 win in the final game of the series.
GAME ONE OVERVIEW | Central Oklahoma 4, Lindenwood 3
The first game started off with strong defense and great pitching as the first run of the game was not scored until the fifth inning.
Mitchell Krebs made a terrific divining play up the middle to get the runner out at second, ending the inning in the top of the fourth. Central Oklahoma plated two runs in the top of the fifth to take a 2-0 lead.
Bryce Beckmann ended the inning as he made the catch in right field and threw out the runner at home to end the threat.
The Bronchos took a 3-0 with a tally in the top of the sixth inning.
Kolby Schulte put the Lions on the board in the bottom of the eighth inning with a sacrifice fly. Central Oklahoma got the run back in the top of the ninth to regain its three-run lead.
DJ Miller and
Kyle Stevens registered back-to-back hits to op the ninth, but their two runs scored were not enough to mount a comeback in the first game.

The Lions jumped on the board right away after
Ryan Sosnowski drew a bases-loaded walk to bring in a run in the bottom of the first. Central Oklahoma scored a run in the top of the second, but
Ryan Venne added a run in the bottom of the third frame. Venne hit a sacrifice fly to centerfield, giving the Lions a 2-1 advantage after three innings.
Beckmann hit a single to right field in the fifth inning on an 0-2 count to open the inning. Beckmann used his speed and moved from first to third on a single, and later scored on a ground out to extend the lead. Stevens gave the Lions their largest lead of the game in the eighth inning with an RBI to make it 4-1 with one inning to play. Lindenwood had a scare in the top of the ninth, but held on for the 4-3 win in game two.
