The No. 9 Lindenwood women's lacrosse defeated No. 14 Colorado Mesa, 19-7, on Saturday afternoon in Las Vegas, Nev.

GAME OVERVIEW
The Lions led early in the game, 5-1, and never looked back in Saturday's season-opening victory. Lindenwood led by as many as six points in the first half, and after the first 30 minutes, the team was up 9-3. Lindenwood held Colorado Mesa from scoring consecutive goals in the first half of the game, as the team responded to each Mavericks' score with a score of their own.

The second half was much of the same for Lindenwood, as the Lions outscored Colorado Mesa 10-4 to put the game on ice. After a Maria Johnson score at the 14 minute mark of the second half, Lindenwood led 18-4. The Mavericks would go onto score three of the game's final four goals.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

• Three different Lindenwood players recorded three-goal games. Hannah Doughty, Carly Fedorowski and Meghan Rea all scored three goals for the Lions.
• Morgan Reader tacked on two goals for the Lions.
• Fedorowski assisted on a team-high five scores, as her and Erin McGuire were the only Lindenwood players to finish with multiple assists.
• Emma Wildhart finished with a team-high three ground balls for Lindenwood.
• Callie Eldred, Abby Zimmerlink and Kym Ardrey all caused two turnovers against the Mavericks.
• Eleanor Kast picked up the win as she finished with four saves against Colorado Mesa.
