Men's Basketball Upended at Indianapolis

The Lindenwood men's basketball team (10-9, 10-9) suffered a three-point road loss to Indianapolis (10-11, 10-11 GLVC), 77-74, on Saturday.

GAME OVERVIEW
Lindenwood shot 50.0 percent from the field (14-28) in the opening half, including 53.8 percent on threes, and 80.0 percent at the free throw line. After trailing by five points midway through the first half, the Lions battled back to retake the lead on a Kevin Caldwell, Jr. three-pointer off of an assist from Mason Gaze. The team led by as much as 14 points after a TJ Crockett fast break jump shot off of a steal. Two successful Crockett free throws gave Lindenwood a 47-35 lead entering the break.

In the second half, the Lions shot 32.1 percent on shots, 28.5 percent from deep, and 62.5 percent on free throw attempts. Lindenwood held a 15-point lead at the 13:20 mark in the second half after Brandon Trimble drained both of his free throw attempts. With the Lions up, 74-70, with just over two minutes left in the game, the Greyhounds closed the matchup out on a 7-0 run to take the victory.

18 of Lindenwood's 74 points were scored in the point on Saturday. The Lions received 10 points off of turnovers, and 15 points on the fast break. The Lions' bench combined to score 13 points against the Greyhounds.

QUOTABLE
"Obviously we would have loved to finish out the regular season with a win, but we won't let this take away from everything we did as a group this year," said head coach Kyle Gerdeman. "They have moved our program in a positive direction, and I am grateful for that. I thought we played our best basketball at the end, which is always a goal. Hopefully we will make the GLVC Tournament and have a chance to play again."
