Men’s ACHA D2 Hockey Comes up Short against Maryville D1 Squad

Men's ACHA Division II ice hockey came up short in a 5-1 loss to the Maryville D1 squad Sunday afternoon at the Centene Community Ice Center in Maryland Heights, Missouri. Three Saints goals in the first period proved to be too big of a deficit for the Lions to make up.

The lone score from Lindenwood came in the second period when Stanley Lucas and Josh Linn set up Jacob Behnen at the 4:28 mark. Maryville added two more in the third period to put the game out of reach.

The Saints outshot the Lions 33-30 and Justin Grenon stopped 28 of the 33 shots he faced in the losing effort for Lindenwood. Maryville went 1/3 on the power play while holding the Lions scoreless on three man-advantage chances.

With the loss, Lindenwood dropped to 7-4-0 on the season. The Lions hit the road for a two-game series against Marian (Wisc.) University November 4-5. The puck drops at 8 p.m. Friday night and at 2:30 Saturday afternoon at the Fond du Lac Ice Center in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin.
