Eldredge Nets Six in Lions' Victory Over Missouri Western

The Lindenwood women's lacrosse team beat Missouri Western in an 18-8 victory in St. Joseph, Missouri on Thursday night.

OVERVIEW
The Griffons opened things up with a goal in the first minute of the first period, getting a quick head start on the Lions. However, this would be the only goal that Missouri Western would have in the entire first period, as the Lions answered back with a powerful six-goal run, starting with Paige Sutton off the assist from Clara Gallapoo. Sara Grieco, Emma Arnold, Lindsey Smith, Hennessey Evans and Logann Eldredge would also get on the board before the start of the second, running up the score 6-1 going into the second period.

Sutton opened up the scoring again in the second period in the first minute off the assist from Arnold, and the Griffons turned around and tried to get things moving in their favor with a second goal. Eldredge scored another shortly after, then Bridget Considine grabbed her first of the game. The next three goals would come from Griffons, but Eldredge would score her third with 47 seconds to go before the end of the second period, keeping the Lions ahead 10-5.

Eldredge would go on to score two more goals to open up the third, and Sutton would also net another before the next Missouri Western goal. The Lions would maintain a 13-6 lead at the end of the third.

Fourth period goals came from Meghan Rea, Natalie Gane, Considine (2) and Eldredge with her final goal of the game. The Griffons would get two more goals, but Lindenwood's strong offensive and defensive effort edged them out in the end.

Eleanor Kast made a huge 14 saves to spearhead the Lion defense, while Arnold led the way in caused turnovers with three total on the day. Kelsey Long led with an impressive 10 draw controls won against the Griffons, while Kym Ardrey, Eldredge and Arnold each tied for most ground balls with two apiece.
