Women's Lacrosse Falls to UIndy in NCAA First Round

The Lindenwood women's lacrosse team fell to at UIndy in a 13-8 loss on Friday morning in Indianapolis, Indiana.

OVERVIEW
The Greyhounds knocked in two early goals to get things rolling quickly, but the Lions were quick to answer back with a goal from Natalie Gane off the perfect dish from Sara Grieco. UIndy was turned around and knocked in their third goal shortly after, but Bridget Considine would go on to capitalize on a free position attempt, closing the gap once again with 7:35 remaining in the first period. The Greyhounds would knock in two more before the second period, making it an uphill battle for the Lions.

Another quick UIndy goal came to open the second period, making it 6-2 just 40 seconds in. Despite the Greyhounds netting another goal, Emma Arnold and Grieco each knocked in a goal apiece, looking to get the Lions back on track. In the last minute of play, Arnold forced a UIndy turnover, and after a ground ball pickup from Logann Eldredge, the Lions slowed things down until finding Gane, who scored in the last 10 seconds of the period to lessen the Greyhounds lead once again.

Arnold started the third period with a bang, winning the opening draw control and scoring just seconds later, closing in on UIndy immediately. Things sat at 7-6 briefly, but the Greyhounds knocked in another, looking to run their lead back up. Considine went on and netted her second free-position goal of the game however, not letting the Greyhounds run away with it just yet. Hennessey Evans would be the one to tie the game up at 8-8 off the assist from Paige Sutton, pushing UIndy to call a timeout with 7:39 remaining in the third period. UIndy netted a free-position goal with 6:38 remaining, and things sat at 9-8 to end the third.

The fourth quarter consisted of four more goals from UIndy despite the hard-fought efforts from the Lions. The defense held strong but the Greyhounds still managed to find the gaps and execute offensively.
