It was a tough day for the Lindenwood women's tennis team at the ITA Central Regional Championships, taking place in Lawrence, Kansas at the University of Kansas.
Head Coach Cole Stevenson stated, "Really please with today.. especially for our first D1 regionals….we had A lot of tight singles matches, that could've gone either way and Fabiana picked up a great comeback win."
In singles action, Jodan Le dropped her match to Maja Bajorek of Southeast Missouri State University 6-2 and 6-1. Juliana Kulczynski fell to Laura Baroja of the University of Missouri Kansas City 6-1 and 6-1. Elisa Dornelles faced Yasmine Humbert of Arkansas State University, on a split decision. Winning the first 6-4 before dropping the second 6-4.
Fabiana Labrador defeated Emiliya Margolin of Arkansas State University 6-4 after falling 6-0 in the opening round. In the round of 64, Labrador fell to the University of Tulsa's Sofiia Zhylchuk 6-1 and 6-4. Kulczynski dropped her match to Abby Wise of Oral Roberts with scores of 6-3 and 6-4; while Dornelles faced Maria Bylina of the University of Missouri Kansas City, with scores of 6-1 and 7-5.
In doubles, Gaskell and Dornelles fell to Dana Guzman and Alina Shcherbinina of the University of Oklahoma 8-1.
Day Two of the regional event will take place on Friday, October 13th.
