The Lindenwood men's volleyball team (9-7, 6-2 MIVA) rolled to its fourth-consecutive victory, sweeping Quincy (7-13, 0-8 MIVA) 3-0 on Saturday afternoon from Hyland Arena in St. Charles, Mo.
GAME OVERVIEW
Lindenwood cruised in the first set 25-16 behind a .500 hit percentage as a team. The Lions compiled 12 kills in the opening set as
Ian Schuller and
A.J. Lewis paced the squad with three. The set was capped off by three-consecutive points by Lindenwood, never trailing in the first set, as the Lions grabbed a 1-0 lead in the match.
The second set opened as a back-and-forth one, seeing the score tied 9-9 early. With Schuller back to serve, Lindenwood went on a 6-0 run, aided by three aces from the Downers Grove, Ill. native. The freshman led the Lions with six aces on the day. This allowed Lindenwood to increase its margin and pick up the second set by a 25-15 score.
After a slow start to the third set, Lindenwood was able to stretch its lead to 12-6. After two service aces from
Clay Wieter, the Lions found themselves up eight late in the set. However, Quincy started to claw back, earning the next four points to make the score 21-17. Lindenwood was able to settle down and pick up its third-consecutive sweep and ninth win overall.
