The Lindenwood men's volleyball team (9-10, 6-5 MIVA) fell to No. 10 Loyola Chicago (20-4, 10-1 MIVA) 3-0 on Friday night from Chicago, Ill.
GAME OVERVIEW
After trailing early in the first set, Lindenwood clawed its way back to take an 8-6 lead after an ace by
A.J. Lewis. The set continued as a back and forth one with the Ramblers taking control late, but the Lions battled back. However, tied at 24, Loyola grabbed the final two points and the first set, 26-24.
Ian Schuller paced Lindenwood with five kills in the opening set, while hitting an impressive .833.
Loyola took the second set by a score of 25-20, earning a two sets to none advantage in the match. Just like the opening set, the second was back and forth until Loyola won the final three points of the set. Schuller had another five kills in the second, bringing his total up to 10 for the match.
The Lions trailed throughout the third set, but began to inch their way back, pulling within a point at 21-20 after a
Clay Wieter block. However, the Ramblers were able to close out the set and pick up the victory 25-23. Two of the three sets on the night were decided by two points.
