ST. CHARLES, Mo. --The Lindenwood baseball team (8-28, 5-7 OVC) fought back from tied 4-4 in the eighth inning to win in exciting fashion, rallying to earn a 6-5 walk-off victory in the 12th inning over the Morehead State Eagles (21-13, 7-2 OVC) on Sunday at Lou Brock Sports Complex.
Freshman Carson Subbert pitched well, going five innings, surrendering one run on four hits, walking one and striking out three.
Offensively, the Lions were paced by junior Logan Stevens, who went 2-for-6 on the day with a triple and an RBI. Junior Tyson Ludwig compiled a noteworthy performance at the dish as well, going 1-for-2 with two walks and two RBI. Junior Bradley Chesterton also helped out for Lindenwood, putting together one hit in one trip to the plate while adding two RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Trailing 3-0, the Lions first put runs on the board in the fourth inning. Lindenwood scored twice, with one run coming across on Ludwig's single.
The Lions deficit grew to 4-2 before their offense got back on the scoreboard, cutting into that deficit in the seventh inning. Lindenwood scored once on an RBI single off the bat of junior Anthony Stellato, which tightened the Eagles lead to 4-3.
Lindenwood held the Eagles off the scoreboard before rallying to tie it up at four in the eighth.
Morehead State then broke the tied and took a 5-4 lead before Lindenwood scored two runs in the bottom half of the twelfth to grab the win, walking it off on a two-run single off the bat of Chesterton.
