On Wednesday afternoon, The Lindenwood women's lacrosse team faced-offed against Coastal Carolina in their first ASUN conference tournament appearance since transitioning to NCAA Division I. The Lions would fall to the Chanticleers 17-11.
Overview
The Chanticleers came out of the gates hot to start off the game, scoring the first four goals. The Lions would break the streak at the 7:08 mark, coming from
Logann Eldredge. Both teams would trade off goals to end the quarter with the Chanticleers up 5-2. Scorers for the Lions in the first frame were Eldredge and
Elisabeth Ralph. In the second quarter, the Lions would score the first two goals of the frame to close the deficit to one. The Chanticleers would rally, scoring three of their own to increase their lead to four. Once again, Eldredge would break the Chanticleers scoring streak at 3:01 mark of the second quarter. The Chanticleers would have the final answer to end the first half leading 9-5. Scorers for the Lions in the second quarter included two from Eldredge, and one tally from
Natalie Gane.
In the third quarter, the Chanticleers would score five times while the Lions would score twice coming from
Lindsey Smith and
Isabella Jahkhah. The Chanticleers would be up 14-7 going into the final frame. In the fourth quarter, the Lions would score four times while the Chanticleers would score thrice.
Kast started in net for the Lions, making nine saves.
As this was the final game of the inaugural season in NCAA Division I the Lions went 8-10 on the year. In this year's slate, multiple program records were broken, which included
Lexy Biller shattering the career program record in draw control with 324 and breaking the program record in draw controls in a season with 128. Eldredge also broke the program record with goals in a game versus Stetson on April 6
th. To cap off the year the Lions also had three individuals make the all-conference postseason awards in the ASUN which included Eldredge at Second Team and All-Academic, Biller at Second Team, and
Elizabeth Goth on All-Freshman Team.
