EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – The Lindenwood University Lions traveled to Edwardsville, Illinois, to compete in the Southern Illinois University Edwardsville Invite, where they faced SIUE, Missouri-St. Louis and Southern Indiana.
On Friday, Lindenwood had a strong showing as they faced off against the hosting Cougars, however, they were unable to turn the tide in their favor. In the doubles, Jordan Le and Eveline Nilsson toppled the UMSL's Lauren Sweeney and Anna Favaron, 7-6.
In their doubles versus Southern Indiana, the Lions completed a sweep of the competition. Yana Gaskell and Elisa Dornelles defeated Lauren Rowe and Rachel McCorkle 6-1, Juiana Kulczynski and Fabiana Labrador overpowered Abby Myers and Madison Windham 6-3; while the dynamic duo Le and Nilsson found victory over Claire Meyer and Lily Meyer 6-1.
Saturday's action saw Lindenwood squaring off against Missouri-St. Louis in singles action, winning four of six matches. The winners of the singles matches were Dornelles, Gaskell, Le and Nilsson. In their double v. SIUE, Kulczynski and Labrador worked together to flawlessly to take the win, 6-3.
With Lindenwood facing off against Southern Indiana, the Lions once again took four of six of the matches. Labrador, Dornelles, Le and Nilsson each recorded victories for LU.
Lindenwood women's tennis will be back in action at the ITA Division I Central Regional Championship; slated for October 12-16, 2023, at the University of Kansas.
