The Lindenwood men's ACHA division II ice hockey team came away with a thrilling 2-1 victory over the Concordia University of Wisconsin Falcons Friday afternoon at Centene Community Ice Center in Maryland Heights, Missouri.

The Falcons outshot the Lions in the first period 10-7, but Lindenwood netminder Cade Kujawski stopped all 10 shots faced. The Lions had their chances but were unable to capitalize on two power play opportunities in the period. The score remained tied 0-0 after the first.

The second period was dominated by the Lions as they peppered the Falcon goaltender with 14 shots on goal. Jack Louko gave the Lions the lead with his seventh goal of the season at 16:17. The play was set up by Gavin Delfosse who was rewarded with his 13^th assist on the year. Less than two minutes later, the Lions extended their lead to 2-0 when Nick Jones buried his 17^th goal of the season unassisted. Unknowingly to Jones, his goal would end up being the game winner when the final horn sounded.

Down two goals, the Falcons responded in the third period with several fierce offensive attacks. Kujawski and the Lions were able to repel all but one of these chances. At 5:20 in the third, the Falcons scored a short-handed goal, cutting the Lions lead to just one. With Lindenwood playing conservatively for the remainder of the game, the Falcons outshot the Lions 13-10 in the third period but were unable to squeak more than one puck past Kujawski.

The play by the Lions goaltender and the team's ability to stay out of the penalty box were huge keys to their success this afternoon. Kujawski played phenomenally, stopping 24 of 25 Falcon shots and earning the win.

With the victory, the Lions improve to 17-2 on the season and 12-0 on home ice. They look to extend their winning streak to four on Saturday as they take on the Sault College Cougars at 1:45 p.m. at Centene Community Ice Center.
