Men's Basketball Falls At SIUE 91-63

Lions continue road trip to Eastern Illinois on Saturday

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. - Lindenwood men's basketball (8-18, 2-11 OVC) drop their battle of the Mississippi River against SIUE by a final score of 91-63. Lindenwood was held to just 32.7% shooting in the loss, their third straight game shooting below 33.0%.

Jeremiah Talton had a career nigh posting a Lindenwood career-high 18 points on 5-9 shooting including going 4-7 from long range. Keenon Cole posted his second straight and fifth overall double-double of the season after dropping 14 points and 10 rebounds.

SIUE jumped out on the Lions early after a 13-5 run to start the game. Talton's offensive efficiency helped Lindenwood climb back into the game after scoring his second three of the evening, bring LU within six points (13-19).

Towards the end of the first half, SIUE went on a 15-0 run lifting them to a 42-20 advantage with 3:26 left to play. The Cougars were efficient in the first half from beyond the three point line going 6-13 helping them stretch the lead.

Lindenwood climbed back late in the first half closing the deficit to 46-31. The Lions shot 33.3% in the first half including 4-11 from deep. SIUE almost shot 50.0% from the floor in the first half going 16-33 led by Lamar Wright with 16 points.

The Lions kept the game in check for the first eight minutes of the second half getting it to as close as 11 points. With 8:28 remaining, the Cougars stretched their lead out to 18 points after a pair of free throws by Terrance Thompson.

Cole was the leading scorer for the Lions in the second half scoring nine of his 14 points. He was dealing with foul trouble midway through the second half which resulted him being pulled out early. Cole shot 3-7 in the second half including the lone three by LU in the final 20 minutes.

SIUE again shot almost 50.0% in the second half going 15-31 from deep. The Cougars scored 17 points on Thursday evening off of 15 turnovers by the Lions. Lindenwood was held to 31.8% in the second half.

Isaac Ondekane was the Lions' third leading scorer with nine points. He also grabbed five rebounds including three on the offensive glass to lead the team. Darius Beane and Jaylon McDaniel both had six points. Wright had a game high 20 points for SIUE while Damarco Minor scored 16.
