DAVIS, CALIF -- On Sunday afternoon, women's lacrosse took on UC Davis to finish off their trip in the state of California. The Lions would fall to the Aggies 13-12 in a game that went down to the wire.
GAME OVERVIEW
Starting off the first quarter, the Aggies would find the back of the net early, scoring six seconds into the game. A minute later,
Kiley Davis would get on the board for the Lions, to tie the game up at 1-1. Davis's goal would be assisted by
Logann Eldredge. The Aggies would score the next three goals in the frame, leading 4-1 going into the second quarter.
In the second quarter, UC Davis would strike first, scoring shorthanded at 10:10. The Lions would bounce back, scoring a pair of goals at 7:31 and 6:35.
Reese Krieger and Eldredge would be attributed on the Lions two goals. At 6:01, the Aggies would regain the three-goal lead. With 3:35 left in the quarter, Krieger would find the back of the net for the second time of the day, cutting the Lions deficit to two. The Aggies would score the final goal of the half at 2:28, leading 7-4 after two quarters.
In third quarter, the Lions would find their stride, scoring three straight goals to start off the period, coming from
Emily Mowbray, Krieger, and
Alissa Digiacinto. At this point, the Lions would be tied with the Aggies 7-7. At 10:56, the Aggies would find their first goal of the frame to regain the lead. Two minutes later, Krieger would find the back of the net to tie the game up at 8-8. At 5:55 and 4:13, the Aggies would find the scoring column, bringing their lead back to two. Less than a minute later, Eldredge would score for the Lions. The Aggies would score twice before the end of the period, leading 12-9, going into the fourth.
In the fourth quarter, the Lions would start off frame scoring first, coming from Krieger at 9:46. Mowbray would score another for the Lions, at 7:45, to close the Lions deficit to one. At 6:27, the Aggies would regain their two-goal lead. With 24 seconds to go in the game,
Breylin Bright would cut the Lions deficit to one. With six seconds to go, the Lions had a chance to tie the game up but was saved from the free-position.
After this matchup, the Lions fall to 4-1 on the season.
