BRENTWOOD, Tenn. - The Ohio Valley Conference announced their 2024 post-season awards for beach volleyball as Lindenwood's
Nyah Wilson and
Maider Soto were named to the All-OVC First Team while
Annalie McWhorter made the All-Freshman Team.
Wilson and Soto were the most consistent pair for the Lions at the number one spot with a pair record of 8-3 including seven of those wins coming in conference play. It marked the second straight season that a Lion duo made All-OVC First Team.
Overall, Soto started all 20 matches for the Lions this season and had a record of 14-6. When Wilson and Soto were paired together, they held opponents below 15 points in a set 11 times including a season low six points vs. the number one pair of Eastern Illinois.
Wilson started out the season at the number two spot and posted a record of 5-4 before being moved up with Soto ended the season with an overall record of 13-7. With this accolade, she becomes one of three players to be mentioned on an indoor and outdoor all-conference team (Madolyn Isringhausen and M.E. Hargan).
It was also announced that McWhorter was named to the All-OVC Freshman Team after her first season with the Lions. She also played in all 20 matches finishing with an 11-9 record, primarily at the three spot with a 10-9 record.Â
Lindenwood will face-off against #6 seed Eastern Illinois on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. CT in Morehead, Ky. to start the OVC Tournament. For more information go to lindenwoodlions.com.
