Men's bowling began the 2026-27 season with a 14
th place finish out of 45 teams at the 55
th Annual Brunswick Midwest Collegiate Championships in Clinton Township, Michigan.
In what was a lower scoring environment, the Lions bowled well to start the event, posting team games of 980 and 1009. That was good enough for 11
th place, only 83 pins from first place at the time, but a 48 lane move for game three proved to be very tricky. Lindenwood struggled with the differences from one end of the center to the other and the changes that were ongoing with the oil pattern. The Lions grinded through the remaining three games of the day with scores of 856, 906, and 920. With a grand total of 4671 (186.84 average), they finished the first day in 24
th place, 360 pins behind the eighth place cut line for match play.
It looked like 16 games of baker bowling on Sunday would be an extension from the first day with the Lions struggling the first two games, but a quick reset before game three flipped the switch and Lindenwood broke the 200 mark in eight of the next 10 games. With scores of 223 and 224, the Lions finished the first, four-game set with 760, then improved to 830 in set two, followed by 846 in set three, including their high game of the day, a 234. With an average of 203 through the first 12 games, Lindenwood had climbed 10 spots to 14
th in the standings. While the final set dropped to 723, the Lions finished with a Sunday total of 3159 (197.44 average), the ninth best in the field, and a grand total of 7830 to maintain 14
th place at the tier 1 "major" event.
Individually,
Tyler Amos led Lindenwood with a five-game total of 1010 (202 average), including a high of 245, to finish 39
th in the field of 367 players.
Christian Petersen took 60
th place with 974 (194.8 average) and
Mikael Najarro finished in 73
rd with 958 (191.6 average).
The Lions will be joined by the Lady Lions as both compete at the Western Shootout October 10-11 in Indianapolis, Indiana.
