Men's ACHA DII ice hockey trailed by two after the first period but erased that deficit and finished with a 6-3 win over Virginia Tech at the Lake Placid Fall Faceoff Invitational Friday morning at USA Rink in Lake Placid, New York.
After the Hokies put two even strength goals on the board, the Lions answered with the next five.
Brandon Catalano set up
Austin Meers at 5:20 of the second, then
Gage Vierzba scored off a pass from Nicholas Puricelli at 11:14. Catalano and Meers assisted on a
Jake Lange goal at 15:33 and Lindenwood led 3-2 after the middle frame.
The Lions extended their advantage when
Lance Murray sounded the horn at 5:27 of the third with help from
Easton Portner and
Logan Millhausen.
Gavin Delfosse found the back of the net at 8:22 on a play assisted by
Brock Hart and
Zachary Schwartz and Lindenwood led 5-2. Just under a minute later, Virginia Tech drew a hooking penalty on the Lions and that led to a Hokies power play goal at 9:54 to make it 5-3, but Lindenwood finished off the contest with an even strength tally from Puricelli off a feed from Hart at 16:02.
The Lions outshot Virginia Tech 55 to 34 and

The Lions presented a balanced offensive attack with six different goal scorers and 11 different players earning at least a point. Lindenwood was unsuccessful on four power play opportunities while yielding a single goal to the Hokies on seven man-advantage chances.
