from
Easton Portner at 2:56. An elbowing call against the Tigers at 9:05 gave Lindenwood its first man-advantage chance and it was cashed in by Jones at 9:47 with help from
Brandon Catalano and
Brock Hart to make it 3-0. The final goal of the period came off the blade of Austin Meer on a play set up by Greeley and Jones at 13:36. Two minors for roughing were called on the Lions with two seconds remaining, but they still led 4-0 at the first intermission.
After killing off the Mizzou five-on-three, Lindenwood took advantage of another power play chance after a tripping call on the Tigers. A nifty set-up from Meers allowed Hart to hit the back of the net at 2:52 of the second for a 5-0 lead, then Murray scored at 13:08.
Jack Louko earned his first assist of the season on the play while Greeley earned his seventh.
After a big dust-up that sent multiple players to the penalty box and resulted in a game misconduct for each side at the 14:37 mark, Missouri broke the shutout at 17:57, but the Lions still held a 6-1 lead at the second break.
The final two Lindenwood power play goals came early in the third. After a Tigers cross-checking penalty at 3:32, Louko split the pipes at 4:10, assisted by Catalano and Hart, then a slashing call against Missouri at 5:25 led to a Meers score just eight seconds later with help from Hart and Catalano. Mizzou was called for another penalty at the 6:30 mark and while it didn't result in a power play goal, the Lions still scored just 12-seconds after it expired. It was Hart's sixth of the season with assists from Meers and Jones. With a 9-1 lead, Lindenwood was called for roughing at 12:05 and that led to the final score of the game, a Missouri power play goal at 12:52.
Over an hour's worth of penalties were called in the game as the Lions scored four power play goals in seven official chances while holding the Tigers to one goal on eight man-advantage opportunities. Lindenwood doubled Missouri in shots on goal 59 to 29 with
Cole Wheaton making 27 saves on the 29 pucks he faced to earn the win in goal.
Brock Hart led the offense with five points on two goals and three assists.
With the victory, the Lions improved to 4-0 for the young season. They will wrap up the series against the Tigers Saturday night with the opening faceoff scheduled for 8:05 p.m. at the Centene Community Ice Center.
