TAILGATING GUIDELINES
Tailgating before certain sporting events at Lindenwood University is an exciting tradition that supports student-athletes, the University, and provides an opportunity to bring the community together.
The guidelines set forth in this document provide a set of parameters and expectations for all individuals who participate in tailgating at Lindenwood. Lindenwood’s goal is to provide a welcoming, enjoyable, safe, and family friendly environment on campus. At all times, Lindenwood reserves the right to determine who is and is not able to participate in tailgating activities based, in part, on the behavior and conduct of individuals and groups. Visiting institutions are encouraged to share this document in advance of their fans and constituents traveling to Lindenwood to participate in tailgating.
1. General
a. Tailgates can begin no earlier than three hours prior to the scheduled start time of football games.
b. Tailgating activities must end at the football game start time (i.e., kick-off).
c. The tailgating area must be cleaned up and vacated no later than one hour after the end of the football game.
d. Football games will have a designated tailgating area for home team fans at the parking lots adjacent to the football field, in the Field House Parking Lot, Find Your Roar Drive (street – with vendors), and Guffey (Horizon Quad) parking lots. These areas will be blocked off with cones and barricades to control vehicular and pedestrian traffic flow.
e. The Harmon Hall parking lot is designated as the visiting team tailgating areas. This area will have cones and barricades for visiting team tailgating purposes.
f. Tailgating spaces will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
g. As a general matter, motor vehicles may occupy one parking space only, and tailgate activities should be held in the adjacent parking lot and not occupy a parking space, and should occur within the designated areas.
h. Large vehicles, like RVs, are allowed to occupy two parking spaces, as needed.
i. Ideally, parking spaces may not be reserved or saved for others so that all fans have an opportunity to select their location. It is recommended that individuals who want to tailgate adjacent to one another arrive and enter parking lots at or near the same time.
j. Tailgating activities should be restricted to your vehicle space as a courtesy to other fans given the limited nature of space and the need to keep the lots safe for all participants.
k. Other areas of campus may be reserved for specific University needs or events and may not be available for all game days.
l. Only groups approved in advance by Lindenwood may sell admission to their tailgates and sell products, including but not limited to food, beverages, alcohol, and other merchandise.
m. Household furniture intended for interior use such as couches, chairs, and coffee tables are prohibited in parking lots and tailgate areas.
2. Public Safety and Security
a. Anyone with concerns about campus safety should call Lindenwood’s Public Safety & Security phone number as soon as possible at: 636-949-4911.
b. In the case of an emergency, call 911 immediately.
3. Alcohol
a. Alcohol is only permitted at football game tailgates.
b. No one under 21 is permitted to consume or possess an alcoholic beverage.
c. Anyone possessing or consuming an alcoholic beverage shall possess valid photo identification establishing that they are 21 years of age or older and comply with a request to show such identification when requested by law enforcement, game security personnel, or a Lindenwood official.
d. All groups serving alcoholic beverages must comply with all Lindenwood alcohol guidelines.
e. Glass beverage containers are prohibited. All beverages must be in aluminum or plastic containers.
f. Open-source containers (e.g., well drinks, kegs, etc.) are prohibited.
g. Alcohol is not to be taken outside the designated tailgate areas and is prohibited to be taken into Hunter Stadium.
h. Public intoxication is prohibited.
i. The consumption of alcohol in tailgating areas is prohibited after the game’s kickoff.
