Box Score The No. 11 Lindenwood women's lacrosse team was upset on the road on Thursday afternoon at No. 14 Pfeiffer. The Lady Lions lost the defensive battle by a 7-6 score.
The Lady Lions jumped out to a 3-1 lead in the game, but they scored just one goal over the next 38 minutes. That allowed Pfeiffer to grab a 6-4 lead and the Falcons were able to hold on late for the win. Lindenwood had a chance in the final minute to tie the game, but a turnover took away the team's final chance.
Pfeiffer had five more shots on goal and six more groundballs. Both teams turned it over more than 20 times, and the Falcons had three more draw control wins.
Lindenwood was led by
Melissa Menchella who had four of Lindenwood's six goals. Three of her goals came on free-position shots.
Shelby Polk and
Erin Abbott had the other scores.
Maddi Ossello had a team-high four groundballs, and
Stephanie Tirman and Abbott both caused three turnovers.
Christine Hehmeyer made eight saves in goal.
Lindenwood falls to 4-2 on the year. The Lady Lions will continue their road trip on Saturday with a game at Belmont Abbey.
