Women's Lacrosse Allows Just One Shot In Victory

Box Score The defense of the No. 5 Lindenwood women's lacrosse team appeared to be in postseason form on Thursday night at Hunter Stadium. The Lady Lions allowed just one shot as they defeated McKendree by a 19-1 score.
 
Lindenwood's defense held the Bearcats without a shot for the first 53 minutes of the game. The Lady Lions caused McKendree to turn it over 15 times and the Bearcats were just two-of-eight on clears. Lindenwood also had a 17-5 advantage on groundballs. Molly Beckham had a team-high two caused turnovers, and Melissa Smith had five groundballs.
 
Offensively, Lindenwood scored 19 times for the second straight game. Smith had a team-high five goals, including the team's first four goals in the first four minutes of the game. Melissa Menchella added four goals and Erin Abbott had two. Lindsey Palmer, Kara Wendell, and Maddi Ossello all had one goal and one assist.
 
Another bright spot was the return of Shelby Polk to the lineup. She had four draw controls and helped the Lady Lions have a 15-7 advantage in that category.
 
Lindenwood, which is now 13-2 on the year, ends its home regular season schedule on Saturday with a 1 p.m. RMAC game against Rockhurst.
