Lindenwood men's basketball's bench led the team to a big road victory on Thursday night in Joplin, Mo. Lindenwood defeated Missouri Southern in overtime by an 84-77 score.

Lindenwood outscored Missouri Southern by a 54-0 margin in points from the bench. The bench scoring was led by
Jackson Price who scored 28 points, and
Brenon Larson-Gulsvig who poured in 18 points. Those two players hit 11 three-pointers, and Lindenwood finished with 16 three-pointers, the third-most in school history for a game.

Lindenwood held the highest scoring team in the MIAA to just 25 points in the first half, as Missouri Southern shot under 40 percent from the field. The two teams were tied at 17 with six minutes left in the half when Lindenwood went on an 8-0 run.
Dominique Dobbs sparked the run with a dunk, and
Max Meylor and
Chandler Diekvoss both hit three-pointers. Lindenwood would go on and lead 32-25 at halftime.

At the start of the second half, Missouri Southern's offense found its rhythm. It scored 27 points in just over the first 10 minutes, which helped the team grab a 52-42 lead. Missouri Southern still led by 10 with eight minutes left when Lindenwood started its comeback. Lindenwood hit four three-pointers in the next six minutes, and a Diekvoss jumper tied the game with 1:24 left. Missouri Southern hit two free throws with a minute remaining, but
Jackson Price quickly tied the game again. Missouri Southern had two layup tries in the final 24 seconds, but both missed the mark to send the game into overtime.

Lindenwood had not won an overtime game since 2012, but Price put an end to that drought. He put Lindenwood up for good just 13 seconds into the period with a three-pointer, which were the first of nine points he would score in the period.

Lindenwood led 73-71, and Missouri Southern had the ball with under two minutes left. Lindenwood forced a turnover though, and Price hit a layup to put Lindenwood up four. After a missed three-pointer by Missouri Southern, Price hit his final three-pointer of the night to put Lindenwood up 78-71, and essentially put the game away.

Lindenwood finished the game making 16-of-32 from three-point range, and it shot 43.3 percent from the field. Missouri Southern, who was held eight points below its season average despite the extra five minutes, shot 46.3 percent from the field, but had 20 turnovers and shot just four-of-20 from three-point range.

Price finished the game shooting 60 percent from the field, including six-of-11 from three-point range. Larson-Gulsvig was perfect in five three-point attempts. Diekvoss finished with 13 points and had a team-high eight rebounds. Price led the team with five assists, one more than
Bakari Triggs.

Lindenwood improves to 13-6 overall and 3-4 in the MIAA. It will travel to Pittsburg State next for a 3:30 p.m. Saturday contest.
