The No. 10 Lindenwood baseball team (22-4, 18-4 GLVC) defeated Southern Indiana (19-15, 15-11 GLVC) by a final score of 13-2 on Saturday at Lou Brock Sports Complex in St. Charles, Mo. The Lions swung the bat well again, and
Blake Beckmann set a new school record en route to his 20th career victory on the mound.
GAME OVERVIEW
The Lindenwood offense jumped on the board early, and poured on the runs in each inning. After leading off the game with a walk,
Will Lanxon stole second and third before scoring on an RBI single by
Bryce Beckmann. Lindenwood held a 1-0 lead after the first inning, and continued to add to its total.
Austin Schmitt registered an RBI single before Lanxon drove in a run of his own.
Kolby Schulte closed out the scoring in the second inning with an RBI single, making it a 4-0 lead for the Lions.
Schmitt drove in another run on a double in the third inning, and the Lions scored two more in the inning on a throwing error by the Screaming Eagles. Southern Indiana got two runs back in the fourth inning, but the Lions stayed hot at the plate, as
Sam Kissane brought a run across on a sacrifice fly. Schulte extended the lead to 9-2 after the fifth inning on another RBI single.
On the mound, Beckmann completed 5.1 innings and compiled nine strikeouts. The win marked his 20th career victory on the bump, which is the most by any Lindenwood pitcher during the NCAA era. Lindenwood poured on the runs in the sixth, as
Jayce Maag tallied a two-RBI triple down the right field line to make it 11-2. Lanxon drove in a run on a single up the middle, and Beckmann capped off the scoring with his second RBI of the game.
