Men's Volleyball Falls to Lewis in Last Regular Season Match

The Lindenwood men's volleyball team was defeated 3-1 by the Lewis Flyers in Romeoville, Illinois on Saturday evening. 

OVERVIEW
The first set went to the Flyers in a 25-23 final score. The Lions put up a strong fight both offensively and defensively, but the Flyers squeezed past in the end. Carter Stenmark and A.J. Lewis kicked things off offensively, each tallying four kills in the first set. 

The second set was taken by the Lions in an exciting 25-20 victory. Stenmark led the way again, adding five more kills to his stat line as well as recording one service ace and a big solo block. Defensively, A.J. Lewis and Kyle Deutschmann each tallied two digs, and the Lions put together four total blocks as opposed to the Flyers' 2.5 blocks.

With the Lions' looking to build off their momentum in the third set, there was strong play on both sides of the ball. A.J. Lewis added a strong six kills to his stat line, continuing his solid offensive performance. The Flyers edged the Lions in the end, however, walking away with a tough overtime win by a 29-27 final score. 

The Flyers took the fourth set as well by a close 25-21 win, but Lindenwood put up another tough fight. The duo of Stenmark and A.J. Lewis led the way for yet another set in terms of kills, with A.J. tallying seven and Stenmark putting up four. Phil Swartz and Connor Sheehan each had the most digs with four on the set, while Stenmark and Kadin Warner each contributed two block assists to heighten the Lions' defense even more. 

Game leaders include A.J. Lewis with the most kills, sitting at 18 on the day, and Stenmark was right on his heels with 14 total kills. Sheehan contributed 38 total set assists to keep the offense flowing, while Warner, Stenmark and Alex Pappas each executed two service aces throughout the match. Deutschmann had the most digs with seven total, while Warner had the most block assists with five overall.

The Lions will begin MIVA postseason play against the #2 seeded Loyola Ramblers on Saturday, April 16 with a TBA time in Chicago.
