Baseball Drops Saturday Matchup With Morehead State

ST. CHARLES, Mo. --The Lindenwood Lions took a 3-2 lead into the seventh inning, but could not hang on and fell 8-4 to the Morehead State Eagles Saturday.

Senior Brody Roach (1-2) took the loss on the mound for Lindenwood (7-28, 4-7 OVC). Sophomore Eli Brown started the ballgame and went 5.1 innings, surrendering two runs, one earned, on five hits, walking three and striking out seven.

Junior Logan Stevens led the way offensively for the Lions, going 2-for-5 in the ballgame with a double and an RBI. Sophomore Marcus Heusohn furnished a noteworthy performance at the dish as well, going 1-for-4 with a walk and an RBI. Junior Tyson Ludwig also contributed, going 1-for-2 for Lindenwood with a double and a walk.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Lions got on the scoreboard first, starting in the second inning. Lindenwood got an RBI single from Heusohn, scoring Ludwig from second base.

After the Eagles rallied to tie the ballgame at one, the Lions came back to retake the lead in the fifth inning. Lindenwood scored once on an RBI single off the bat of Stevens, which brought the Lions lead to 2-1.

Morehead State fired back to even the ballgame at two before Lindenwood (MO) reclaimed a 3-2 advantage in the sixth inning. The Lions scored once on an RBI single off the bat of junior Will Lanxon.

Lindenwood surrendered the lead they built in the sixth, but got back on the board in the eighth trailing 8-3. Ludwig crossed home plate with the lone run of the inning for the Lions, tightening the Morehead State lead to 8-4. The Lions were unable to get any closer, as neither team scored again in the ballgame.
