Five Lions From Softball Named To CSC Academic All-District

Amanda Weyh, Tori Hatton, Morgan Gersch, Avery Wapp and Chloe Honchar earn All-District honors

ST. CHARLES, Mo. - Five Lions from Lindenwood softball earned College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honors for the efforts inside the classroom and on the field. The 2023-24 Academic All-District® Softball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the diamond and in the classroom.

Amanda Weyh, a graduate student majoring in elementary education, posted a 4.0 GPA for the spring semester while also garnering a cumulative GPA of 4.0 during her time at Lindenwood. A second team All-Ohio Valley Conference honoree, Weyh posted a 15-9 record on the mound with a 2.16 ERA. She was second in the conference in strikeouts with 163 and fifth in complete games with 11. She finished her time at Lindenwood leading the schools in many statistical categories.

Morgan Gersch, a graduate student majoring in health with an emphasis in fitness and wellness, finished the spring semester with a 3.8 GPA while posting a 3.75 GPA in her master's program. As the primary catcher, Gersch played in 41 games with 258 put-outs and 21 assists. She finished her time at LU with the best fielding percentage in school history with a .990 (NCAA era).

Chloe Honchar, a senior majoring in sport, recreation and tourism management, ended the spring semester with a 4.0 GPA while also posting a 4.0 cumulative GPA. Honchar was the primary third baseman for the Lions finishing with a .293 batting average which was second on the team. She had 36 hits on the season with five doubles, two triples and 11 runs batted in.

Tori Hatton, a sophomore majoring in communications, posted a 3.6 GPA during the spring 2024 semester while also boasting a 3.85 cum GPA. Hatton was the first baseman for the Lions playing in 48 games. She hit .212 last season with three doubles, two home runs and 16 RBI. She also had 223 put-outs at first with six assists and a .983 fielding percentage.

Avery Wapp, a sophomore majoring in exercise science and therapeutic recreation, was the last Lion honored posting a 3.8 GPA during the spring semester with a 3.56 overall GPA. Wapp was 9-12 on the season as a pitcher appearing in 33 games. She had a 3.11 ERA in 137.1 innings with 126 strikeouts.
