Irelynn West and Amanda Weyh Earn All-OVC Selections

West earned First-Team honors while Weyh was named Second-Team

PEORIA, Ill. - The Ohio Valley Conference has announced their 2024 Softball All-OVC selections at the OVC Banquet held in Peoria, Ill. Irelynn West was tabbed as a first-team outfielder while Amanda Weyh earned second-team honors on the mound.

West, named to the 2023 All-OVC Second team, played in 46 games this season for the Lions where she hit .259 which ranked fourth on the team. In 135 at-bats, West posted 35 hits including six doubles, two triples and one home run. Her 19 RBI lead the team. She had an eight game hitting streak earlier this season.

"Irelynn has been a steady offensive force for us this season," said head coach Erin Brown. "She has really stepped up for us in conference and I'm so happy the other coaches have selected her as one of the top outfielders in the OVC. Very proud of her and happy for her success."

In conference play, she ranks second on the team in batting average with a .296 while having a team-high 24 hits. Her .444 slugging percentage is also tops on the team in conference play. West was second on the team in runs scored during OVC play with 12.

Defensively, West has 86 put-outs in 91 chances with a fielding percentage of .967. She has two outfield assists this season including throwing a runner out at the plate last weekend at Eastern Illinois. She becomes the first Lion to earn both first and second team honors in her career.

Weyh also earned All-OVC second team honors after being the Lions number one pitcher throughout the season. She currently ranks fourth in the OVC in ERA with a 2.00 while posting a 15-8 record on the mound, one of only seven pitchers to do so in the conference.

"Amanda has played a key role in our success this spring," said Brown. "It's quiet a compliment for her to be selected by the OVC coaches as one of the best four pitchers in a league, that has some really talented pitchers. Amanda has left her mark on our program and it's so rewarding to see her finish her career as a DI all-conference pitcher."

Weyh has thrown 11 complete games this season while throwing in at least five innings 23 times. Her six shutouts ranks first among all pitchers in the OVC, and ranks second in strikeouts with 159. Weyh through at least six strikeouts in nine games including a season high 10 twice.

During her time at Lindenwood, Weyh has many accolades. In the NCAA era, she has the school record in wins (60), saves (7), appearances (125), innings pitched (628.0), complete games (55), shutouts (23), and strikeouts (550).

Weyh and West will look to both help the Lions on Wednesday, May 8th as they take on #7 Tennessee Tech to start the OVC Championships. For more information go to lindenwoodlions.com.
