Roller Hockey Wins 2025 TORHS Winter Classic

After being upended by Carshield in the 2024 TORHS Winter Classic championship final last year, roller hockey returned the favor with a 3-2 win over that same Carshield squad in the 2025 title game Sunday afternoon at Vetta 70 in St. Peters, Missouri.

Despite the outcome, the tournament did not start well for the Lions as they were defeated by Carshield 5-4 on Saturday morning, but Lindenwood bounced back for a 7-2 victory over the Lizards later in the afternoon.

The 1-1 record was enough to advance to the AAA Division semifinals Sunday morning. Playing the Lizards for the second time in a row, it was a much closer game that went to overtime tied 3-3. After neither team scored in the extra session, the outcome was settled with a shootout and the Lions survived to get a 4-3 win, setting up a rematch against Carshield. The two squads were evenly matched, but Lindenwood prevailed 3-2 to hoist the championship trophy for the fourth time in the last five years.
Freshman Luke DiPasquale earned the Top Scorer award with 10 points on six goals and four assists.

Roller hockey returns to collegiate action at the Midwest Collegiate Roller Hockey League (MCRHL) Showcase January 18-19. The Lions face Henry Ford Community College (JC) in a MCRHL match-up to open competition on Saturday at 8 a.m. EST, then take on Slippery Rock University (D2) at 2 p.m. EST and Farmingdale State College (D2) at 10 p.m. in non-conference action. Lindenwood faces Robert Morris University (D2) at 9 a.m. EST Sunday morning. All games at the Showcase will be played at Heatwave Arena in Plain City, Ohio, outside of Columbus.
