With a 6-0-1 record, men's rugby captured the championship at the Bash at the Beach Tournament February 1 at Volleyball Beach in Ozark, Missouri. The event featured competition in the sand and a wrestling theme for naming teams. Each try was only worth one point and that was the only way to score.
How it Happened:
Playing as the Stone Cold Lions, the Lindenwood squad opened with an 11-2 victory over Ray MIZterio in the opening contest and followed with a 9-1 win over NWO. The Stone Cold Lions defeated Degeneration X 6-3 and stopped Mizzouplex 11-4 before playing to a 7-7 draw against The Randy Savages.
That earned Lindenwood the top seed for the knockout stage of the event. In the semifinals, the Stone Cold Lions defeated No. 4 seed Junkyard Dawgs 11-4, setting up a final against No. 2 seed The Randy Savages. Lindenwood was victorious 10-6 in the rematch to take the title belt.
