On a night when the Lions raised their 2025 national championship banner, men's ACHA DII ice hockey used three power play goals in the first two periods to pull away from Maryville for an 8-1 win Saturday at the Centene Community Ice Center in Maryland Heights, Missouri.

The Lions cashed in their first two man-advantage opportunities of the contest. After a Saints tripping penalty at the 1:57 mark,
Gavin Delfosse and
Nick Jones set up
Jack Louko for a score at 3:16. Jones then took matters into his own hands for an unassisted effort at 8:05 following a roughing call against Maryville.
Lindenwood carried a 2-0 lead into the second period and added to it with the first even-strength goal of the game. Jones was involved again with his second assist and third point of the contest when he and
Brett Bell created an opening for
Zachary Schwartz to sound the horn at 4:35.
Physical play ramped up on both sides as the period entered its later stages. After several roughing calls on each team, Lindenwood earned another power play from an interference penalty on the Saints with 5:47 remaining. Just over a minute later,
Zac Maupin split the pipes off a pass from Schwartz at 15:24 to give the Lions a 4-0 lead. That advantage quickly increased to 6-0 in the next three minutes. Louko fed
Ethan Christofferson at 16:30 followed by an unassisted goal from Maupin with 1:39 remaining, but the Lions were called for unsportsmanlike play after the horn sounded, and that led to the only goal of the game from the Maryville side with 53.3 seconds left in the period.
Lindenwood led 6-1 at the second intermission and added two more even-strength goals in the third. Jones earned his fourth point of the contest when he helped freshman
Brock Hart on his first collegiate goal at the 27-second mark. The final score of the game came off the blade of
Chase McClellan, assisted by Bell at 16:44.
The Lions get a weekend off before traveling east for a two-game series against Liberty University October 9-10. The opening faceoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. EDT Thursday night and 12 p.m. EDT Friday afternoon at the LaHaye Ice Center in Lynchburg, Virginia.
