Lions Host the Texas Roadhouse Classic

The Lindenwood men's basketball team finally gets a chance to play some games in front of its fans. The Lions will play their next nine out of 10 games at the Hyland Arena.

The homestand starts with the second annual Texas Roadhouse Classic which features four teams. The Central Christian Saints, the McKendree Bearcats, and the Central State Marauders will join the Lions this weekend.

Lindenwood will start off the Classic with a contest against Central Christian and end the weekend with a game against Central State.

Last Time Out
The Lions got 72 points out of its starting lineup and rolled to its 12th straight win on Tuesday night. The Lions beat Mid-Continent 89-75 in Mayfield, Ky.

With the game tied at 11 and just over 10 minutes to play in the opening half, the Lions went on a 10-1 run and never looked back. Lindenwood never gave the lead up and Mid-Continent could only get as close as three points the rest of the way.

The lead grew to as many as 16 points in the final half. But with the Cougars trying to make a charge late in the contest, the Lions closed the contest making 14 free throws in the final three minutes. On the night, Lindenwood was 30-for-38 from the free-throw line.

For the game the Lions shot 42 percent from the field and 53 percent from behind the three-point arc. Lindenwood forced Mid-Continent into 15 turnovers and won the battle of the boards 43-41.

All but one of Lindenwood's starters scored in double figures. Alex Bazzell and Kramer Soderberg led the way with 18 points each. Bazzell also dished out a team-high four assists. Richie Thompson compiled a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds. Garrett Reeg scored 13 points and Efkan Eren rounded out the starters scoring nine points.in with 14. 

Quick Start
The first half has been very kind to the Lions this season. The team is averaging 45 first-half points, which is more than 13 points than its opponents.

Charity Stripe
The Lions have been frequent visitors to the free-throw line this season. The team is averaging 27 free-throw attempts a game, compared to its opponents who are taking just 17. The team has made more free throws than its opponents have taken.

As a team, Lindenwood is shooting 75 percent from the free-throw line. Alex Bazzell is leading the team with 251 attempts, and has made 79 percent of his shots.

Streaking
After losing to Southwest Baptist in Alaska, the Lions have won their last 12 games. Its the programs third winning streak of at least 10 games. It is the second time in two years that the team has put together a winning streak of at least 12 games.

Dominating the Boards
The Lions have outrebounded their opponents in all but one game this season. The team is averaging over eight rebounds more than its opponent.

Crushing Teams
The Lions have already won 15 games this season. In those wins the team's margin of victory is 26.

Leading at the Half
When Lindenwood has the lead at the half it equals a win. Through 15 games this season, the Lions have held a lead in 12 contests. In all 12 games, Lindenwood has finished with a win.

Ressel Scoring
Tyler Ressel has been a huge addition to this year's team. Ressel is averaging 9.9 points off the bench, and is leading the team in free throw shooting (96 percent) and 55 percent from behind the three-point line.

Approaching 1,000
In just a year and a half at Lindenwood, Kramer Soderberg is approaching 1,000 career points. As of the team's last game Soderberg has scored 889 points.

Home Court Advantage
The Hyland Arena floor has been very good to the Lions since Brad Soderberg took over. In his two and half seasons at the helm, the team has compiled a record of 31-4 at home. This season, the team is 3-0, and over the past two years have a five game winning streak at home. 

Consistency
For all 15 games this season, the Lions have used the same starting lineup. The group of Soderberg, Thompson, Bazzell, Reeg, and Eren are scoring 58 points of the team's average of 90.7.

Leading Late
In every game but one this season, the Lions have held a lead with five minutes remaining. The team is 14-1 when leading in the final moments.  

Coaching History
In just two and a half years, Brad Soderberg is moving up the all-time wins list at Lindenwood. Midway through this season, Soderberg has 67 wins as the Lions head coach which ranks him third all-time. He is 16 wins away from being the winningest coach in program history.
