Lions Win Third Straight Conference Game

Box Score The Lindenwood men's basketball team won its third conference game in a row on Thursday night after beating the Fort Hays State Tigers 69-58 in St. Charles.

Lindenwood started the game on a 16-4 run to lead by 12 after the first 10 minutes. Fort Hays was able to cut the lead to four with 7:29 to play but the Lions offense continued to score extending the lead to 15 at the half.

The second half started with Lindenwood scoring the first two points followed by the Tigers rattling off 10 straight points to get within seven. That would be as close as the visitors could get for the rest of the game. Over the final five minutes, Lindenwood scored all of its points from free throw line going nine-for-10.

Alex Bazzell scored 23 points which was his third straight 20-point game. He also grabbed seven rebounds and dished out seven assists. Cody Sorenson chipped in with 15 points and Richie Thompson led the team in rebounds with 10.

The Lions shot 41 percent from the field and 33 percent from behind the three point line. Lindenwood won the rebounding battle 38-32 and caused 12 Tigers turnovers.

The win improved the Lions record to 12-4 overall and 5-3 in MIAA play. There is no rest for Lindenwood as the team will be back on its home court Saturday afternoon against No. 24 Washburn.
