Three Matches On Tap This Week For Men's Volleyball

• Lindenwood will host its third straight match on Tuesday night when it welcomes Missouri Baptist to Hyland Arena. The Lions will then travel to IPFW on Friday and Ball State on Saturday for back-to-back conference match-up.

About The Spartans
• As a member of the MAMVIC, Missouri Baptist is 2-1 overall to start the season and 2-0 in conference play.

• The lone loss for Missouri Baptist came against MIVA opponent in Quincy. The Hawks defeated the Spartans in four sets.

• The Spartans are coming off of a five-set victory against Hannibal-LaGrange. Freshman Josh Comer came off of the bench in the match and recorded four aces for the Spartans.

• Lindenwood is 32-7 all-time against the Spartans. The last time the two schools faced off was February 22, 2012. The Lions finished on top with a 3-2 victory.

About The Mastodons
• IPFW has started the season with a 3-2 overall record and the match-up on Friday will be its first conference match of the 2013 season.

• The Mastodons are coming off of a victory against Lourdes this past weekend. Bryan Saunders and Anthony Randolph led the Mastodons with 11 and 10 kills, respectively.

• Eddie Rivera is leading the squad overall this season on offense, producing 54 kills in five sets. He is the lone Mastodon who has started in all five matches.

• Head coach Arnie Ball is in his 32nd season as the head coach of IPFW.

About The Cardinals
• With head coach Joel Walton at the helm, the Cardinals are off to a 5-0 start in the 2013 season.

• Ball State will begin MIVA action against Quincy on February 1.

• Greg Herceg is leading the team with 64 kills at a clip of 4.57 kills per set. Kevin Owens has contributed 39 kills in 16 sets.

• Graham McIlvaine is the teams primary setter, averaging 11.50 assists per set.

Lindenwood Notes
• Lindenwood looks to garner its first victory of the season against Missouri Baptist and to improve to .500 in the MIVA with victories over IPFW and Ball State.

• The Lions dropped a pair of matches against No. 11 Ohio State this past weekend.

• As a team, Lindenwood hit .208 in six sets against the Buckeyes.

Tim Schmidt, the Lions primary setter, is averaging 10.67 assists per set. He also owns five out of the team's 10 service aces this season.

Scott Siwicki recorded six block assists against Ohio State.

• Sophomore Colin Hackworth returns to the Lindenwood line-up after redshirting last season. Hackworth led the team in kills this past weekend, recording 24 kills between the two matches.

Cory Buehler tallied 17 digs in the two matches against the Buckeyes.

• Lindenwood wrapped up the 2012 season with two victories. Both of those victories came against MIVA opponents in Ball State and Quincy. Lindenwood is 1-4 all-time against Ball State.

• The Lions went 11-7 when matches lasted three sets, 5-4 when they lasted four sets and 3-2 when matches went to five last season.

MIVA Conference
• Lindenwood is the eighth and newest member to the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association conference.

• The Lions were picked seventh in the MIVA preseason poll. IPFW was picked sixth and Ball State was picked fifth in the poll.

• The Lions finished 3-6 against MIVA opponents last season, including 3-1 over the last four matches.

Next Up For The Lions
• Lindenwood will continue its road trip with a pair of matches at Lewis and Loyola-Chicago on February 8 and 9. First serve in both matches is scheduled for 7 p.m.
