Darris Smith Scores a Career-High 25 Points in the Lions 74-58 Win

Box Score The Lindenwood Lions won their second consecutive game on Saturday night. The Lions got a career-high 25 points from Darris Smith in the 74-58 win over the Quincy Hawks in St. Charles.   

The first 10 minutes of the contest the teams traded the lead back-and-forth. In that span, the largest lead was just four. After Quincy took the lead on a layup with 9:59 to go the Lions took back control of the game.

Lindenwood went on a 14-3 run to take its biggest lead of the game. The Hawks did manage to cut the lead down to five at the end of the first half. All in all in the first half, there was a total of six lead changes.

The second half started with the visitors cutting the Lions lead to just two with 14:45 to play. For the next six minutes Lindenwood continued to lead but just barely. The most the home team would lead by was four. Finally, at the 4:33 mark the Lions finally took control. Lindenwood closed the contest on a 13-3 and cruised to the 16 point win.

Smith led the team in scoring while Tyler Ressel chipped in with 14 points. The Lions dominated the glass outrebounding the Hawks 42-33 including a 16-10 margin on the offensive glass.

Lindenwood shot 38 percent from the field and 43 percent from behind the three-point line. The Lions also shot 83 percent from the charity stripe.

After the win the Lions improve to 2-3 on the season. Up next for Lindenwood is a home game against cross-town rival, Maryville on Tuesday night.
