Men's Volleyball Picks Up The Split At the Quincy Crossover

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 The Lindenwood men's volleyball team suffered a setback on Saturday afternoon as Park handed Lindenwood its first loss in 16-straight matches. The Lions had picked up a 3-0 sweep earlier in the morning against Erskine before falling in four to the Pirates at the Quincy Crossover.
 
In the first match of the day against Erskine, the Lions took the first set 25-17. The Lions hit a match-high .263 in the first set while holding the Flying Fleet to a -.043 hitting clip in the set. The second and third sets of the match proved to be much closer than the first set as Lindenwood pulled away with a 26-24 win in the second set and a 25-23 victory in the third set.
 
Colin Hackworth led the team offensively with 10 kills while Scott Siwicki and Tim Huizinga each added seven in the first match. David Poole led the Lions with 10 digs.
 
The second match of the day gave the Lions fits as the Pirates took a quick 2-0 lead in the match with scores of 25-23 and 25-20. Lindenwood retailed back by picking up the third set 26-24 before Park finished the Lions off in the fourth by a score of 28-26.
 
Michael Adams recorded a 17 kill, 16 dig double-double in the match while Siwicki added nine kills at a clip of .438. Tim Schmidt led the Lions with 45 assists.
 
Lindenwood is now 16-7 on the season. With the 3-0 victory over Erskine, the Lions picked up the sweep over Conference Carolina schools they faced this season. The Lions will continue play on Tuesday evening as they travel to Missouri Baptist for their last non-conference match before returning to the second half of MIVA play. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m.
