Men's Volleyball Concludes 2013 Season With Trip To Grand Canyon

Lindenwood Game Notes

On Tap For The Lindenwood Lions

• Lindenwood travels out to Grand Canyon on April 11 and 13 for its final two matches of the 2013 season.

• The Lions have the 3-1 all-time advantage over the Antelopes. The last victory against Grand Canyon came on March 31, 2012 as the Lions defeated the Antelopes 3-1. Lindenwood and Grand Canyon split the series last season.

• This is the longest trip of the season for Lindenwood. Grand Canyon is over 1,500 miles away from the Lindenwood campus.

About the Antelopes
• Grand Canyon is on a four-match skid that dates back to the end of March.

• On April 5 and 6, the Antelopes dropped a pair of non-conference matches to Saint Francis by scores of 3-2 and 3-1.

• The Antelopes are averaging 12.9 kills per set this season. Their opponents record 12.5 per set.

• Ben Ponnet has started and played in 23 matches this season and is the team leader with 3.01 kills per set.

• Ryan Mather is second on the team in kills with 215 this season. Mather averages 2.39 kills per set and is hitting at a clip of .388.

• Keith Smith is the primary setter for the Antelopes, averaging 10.91 assists per set. Of Grand Canyon's 1251 total assists, Smith takes credit for 1124 of them.

• Ponnet has recorded a team-high 26 service aces this season. Jordon Tarantino is second with 20.

• Trent Bruns leads the team in digs with 231. He also owns a .964 reception percentage.

• Jordon Tarantino was just named the MIVA Offensive Player of the Week after the week of April 1-7. In that time, Tarantino recorded 23 kills, just two kills shy of the school record that he had previously set two years prior.

Lindenwood Notes
• With two games remaining, the Lindenwood Lions are 19-10 overall and own a mark of 5-7 in the MIVA.

MIVA Conference
• Lindenwood is the eighth and newest member to the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association conference.

• The Lions were picked seventh in the MIVA preseason poll ahead of Quincy. Grand Canyon was picked fourth in the poll.

• The Lions finished 3-6 against MIVA opponents last season, including 3-1 over the last four matches.

Next Up For The Lions
• This series concludes the 2013 for the Lions. Lindenwood is not eligible for the MIVA conference tournament due to its provisional status.
