Box Score The Lindenwood men's basketball team had a tough night shooting the ball in its 70-61 loss to the Fort Hays State Tigers in Hays, Kan. The loss also snapped the Lions two-game conference winning streak.
The game started off quickly for the Tigers scoring the game's first six points. The lead was the first of the game for Fort Hays and the home team never relinquished the advantage the rest of the game.
Lindenwood cut the lead down to one on two separate occasions but could never get over the hump. The Tigers headed into the half time break leading by three.
After the halftime break the Lions offense came out and missed four of its first five shots and found themselves in a 10 point hole. At the 13 minute mark, Lindenwood started to battle back with a 7-0 run to cut the lead to three.
Unfortunately, the three point spread was as close as the visitors would get. Fort Hays continued push the lead and would eventually win by nine.
The Lions shot just 39 percent from the field while the Tigers shot almost 48 percent. Lindenwood did shoot well from behind the three-point line at 53 percent. Fort Hays outrebounded the Lions 35-34. The Tigers led for all but 45 seconds of the game.
Tyler Ressel was the only Lions to score in double figures. The senior scored 19 points on seven-of-15 shooting, including five-of-eight from deep.
Darris Smith was Lindenwood's top rebounded with eight.
The loss drops the Lions record to 8-9 overall and 3-4 in MIAA play. Lindenwood will be off until Jan. 15
th when the team travels to Joplin, Mo. to take on Missouri Southern.
