Box Score The Lindenwood men's basketball team dropped a tough game on Saturday afternoon to the Central Missouri Mules 82-76 in St. Charles, Mo.
Central Missouri started the contest quickly scoring the game's first 14 of 18 points. The Mules pushed the lead up to as many as 14 in the first half. But Lindenwood cut into the lead in the final four minutes of the half going on a 13-2 run to close the half and trailed by just three.
Lindenwood started the second half by taking its first lead of the game 40-39 just four minutes into the final 20 minutes. The Lions had the lead up to four after
Michael Boos hit a jumper with 12:35 to go in the game.
Unfortunately, for Lindenwood the lead did not last long. Central Missouri proceeded to go on a 15-1 run and take an 11-point lead. Lindenwood twice got within four but the Mules held on for the six point win.
The Lions shot 48 percent from the field and 33 percent from behind the three-point line. Lindenwood won the rebounding battle 31-28 but was outrebounded 10-5 on the offensive glass.
Tyler Ressel led the Lions with 24 points on six-of-10 shooting.
Brandon Marquardt scored 17 and led the team with seven rebounds.
Darris Smith chipped in with 13 points, five rebounds, and four assists.
With the loss the Lions drop to 10-16 overall and 5-11 in MIAA play. Up next for Lindenwood is a road game against Northwest Missouri on Wednesday night.Â
