Men's Volleyball Wins Sixth Straight

Box Score The Lindenwood men's volleyball team continued its winning streak on Friday night with a 3-0 sweep over Grand Canyon. The Lions moved above .500 in conference play for the first time since entering the MIVA with a 25-19, 25-14, and 30-28 win.

Lindenwood dominated offensively in the match as it had just four hitting errors in 90 attempts. The Lions had kills on half of their attempts and finished with a .456 hitting percentage. Defensively, the Lions held the Antelopes to just a .175 hitting percentage, and Grand Canyon had 11 less kills than Lindenwood.

Lindenwood's offense was led by the setting of Tim Schmidt. Schmidt finished with 36 assists and had a .514 setting percentage. His favorite targets were Colin Hackworth and Michael Adams. Hackworth finished with 14 kills and hit .480, while Adams had 10 kills and hit .455. Tim Huizinga finished with eight kills, Scott Siwicki had seven, and Zach Bequette had five. Siwicki also had a team-high two service aces.

Defensively, Hackworth and David Poole both had double-figure digs with 10. Adams and Bequette led the team with three blocks apiece.

Lindenwood improves to 7-2 on the season and 2-1 in MIVA play. The Lions will conclude their two-game series with Grand Canyon on Saturday evening at 7 p.m.
