Men’s Rugby Finishes Fourth at Las Vegas Invitational 7’s

Men's rugby posted a 3-1-1 record to finish fourth at the Las Vegas Invitational 7's tournament February 12-13 in Henderson, Nev.

The Lions faced Notre Dame College (Ohio) in their first game of pool competition on Thursday and played to a 10-10 draw.  The second contest of the day went much better as Lindenwood cruised to a 40-5 victory over Oklahoma.  The Lions displayed an exciting and fast offense combined with an aggressive defense to control the Sooners.  Lindenwood continued its strong play with a 32-0 shutout against Bowling Green.

With the most points scored against their opponents, the Lions advanced out of pool play into the quarterfinals on Friday against American International College (AIC).  Lindenwood jumped out to a 10-0 advantage, but the Yellow Jackets came roaring back with two tries of their own, along with a conversion to steal the game 12-10.

With the loss, the Lions could only play for fourth place and matched up against Notre Dame College once again.  Unlike the first meeting of the weekend that ended in a tie, the second match was dominated by Lindenwood in a 33-0 win.

The Lions have several weeks off before returning to the pitch to battle Life University on March 7.  The opening kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. in Marietta, Ga.
